Our philosophy 'Down to Earth' is something we take quite literally so we conduct our business in an environmentally responsible manner.
Our cloth reusable shopping bags are made from 100% recycled materials. In November 2009, we made a commitment to reduce the number of plastic shopping bags in our stores. While we encourage the use of reusable bags or cardboard boxes, for the past three years we have carried 100% biodegradable shopping bags for customers, now available upon request and for a small charge.
Quality Greens operates an in-house recycling program for all recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper and plastics.
We use biodegradable and compostable corn-based packaging for take away containers and cups in our deli and serve 100% organic and fair trade coffee and products.
Any unsellable food is provided to local food banks; food and waste materials (such as carrot tops) are provided to farmers and the SPCA for their animals.
We support local and organic farmers.
